''TREND MICRO'' THE GLOBAL LEADER IN CLOUD SECURITY

With the continues rise in number of threats in our technology today that comes in the form of viruses, spywares, worms, root kits, Trojans and others that we encounter every day on the internet that pose as a threat not only to the different vital institutions like our government agencies and private companies all over the world, but also to the ordinary person like you and me who regularly check our mailbox and see the post of our friends in the social media provider we are signed in.

Recently, a group of Online Media personalities were invited to have a tour of the Trend Labs office in Ortigas that serves as the headquarters of the Trend Micro for Global Technical Support and for Research and Development. During the tour where I’m a part of, we were guided by our friendly tour guide who led us from one department to another to explain to us how their engineers detect the different kind of threats in the computer and how to deal with it properly. Our first stop was in Email Reputation Services department where all emails are screened, data contents are checked and all IPs are analyzed. Then, we proceed to Web reputation services where all the submitted URL are verified and then reclassified by their web engineers as to whether it will fall on the negative or positive category. Finally, we stopped at the File Reputation Services where the files passes through different machines to be screened and examined thoroughly before passing it on to the quality assurance department where the last screening process takes place.

Lenovo Launches New PCs to Power Consumers, Small-Medium Businesses and Enterprises

Lenovo, the second largest PC maker in the world recently unveiled its latest and top of the line series of laptop and PCs in different key areas around the globe. And here in the Philippines, Lenovo launched its newest laptop and PC at the PICC Forum where hundreds of attendees including the online and print media community together with Lenovo's business partners and guests graced the long-awaited techie event of the year.

Prominent speakers from Lenovo’s partners Microsoft and Intel shared their expertise and talks about their continued growth and partnership with Lenovo. Mr. Ricky Banaag, Intel’s General Manager talks about the 3^rd generation of Intel core processor i3, i5 and i7 that maximizes the system efficiency of Lenovo’s laptop and PC. Another speaker is Microsoft Program Specialist; Ms. Geraldine Marquez who speaks of Microsoft newest technology that is embedded in Lenovo’s line up of laptop and PC where the users will experience a faster and a rapid boot performance during the start up procedure in the computer. 

The highlight of the event comes in when the models strutted the runway displaying the Lenovo’s new line up of laptop and PCs that includes Ultrabooks, all-in-one desktops and both business and consumer multimedia PCs that is powered by Intel 3^rd Generation of Intel Core processors.

 

12TH SM BOWLING CUP

SM Bowling Cup has just recently concluded its 12^th National Open Competition with a lot of prizes to all the winners of the said event.

It has been a very exciting day to all the players, organizers and even to the large number of spectators of the 12^th SM Bowling Cup competition, many of which are relatives, friends and acquaintances of the participants.

As the competition comes to its end, Mr. Jose Rolly Delideli, a businessman by profession, who incidentally got involved in the sports of bowling by the influence of his friends…. “Nagkayayaan lang kaming magkakaibigan.”  as he put it in his words. Turned out to be the 12^th SM Bowling Cup champion garnering a score of     that made him bring home the new Chervolet     car over Ms. Mary Jane Diaz who took the 1^st runner-up slot and brought home the 100,000  check. And placing on the 3^rd spot is Mr. Angel C. Tolentino Jr. who works as a Senior Manager in Prudential Life having a score of     bringing home a trophy and the 50,000 worth of check. 

SEARCH FOR THE NEW TEEN AZKALS

If there is one sport that has overtaken the Philippines by storm in the recent years, it would definitely be the game of football…..with the phenomenal success of the Team Azkals that has curved a name in the local and international football scene…not to mention the charisma of its players that made Azkals each game…a crowd-drawing event in a rain or shine situation. And to continue the Azkals winning tradition, the Philippine Football Federation together with the officers of Team Azkals has opened its doors for the selection of the would be Teen Azkals players that will represent our country in international competitions such as The Asian Cup, The Singapore Cup, The Asian Confederation Qualifier and other friendly games that will really push and test their ability to the limit. 

The future Teen Azkals will be the players that will be selected in the try outs that they will be conducting on July 7 & 8, 2012 at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City for the NCR selection and from August 4-12, 2012 in San Carlos City football ground in Negros Occidental for the Philippine selection, and those will be chosen will not only have the chance to represent our country in international competition, but also will eventually be a part of the Team Azkals (if chosen) who are now making waves in the field of football and for that reason, Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has recently announced that the Philippines is one of the football hot spots in the world today.  

As part of the Philippine Football Federation and the Team Azkals scouting journey, they have been communicating with almost every Football organization in the world to look for a potential player with a Filipino heritage who will be a part of the New Teen Azkals.  

With the continues rise in popularity of the game of football in the Philippines, and with the proven success of the Team Azkals, I can only say that the organization is just as good as the one who are handling or managing them. With the expertise and good leadership of Mr. Dan Palami, with the efficient coaching of Mr. Michael Weiss, with the assertiveness of Teen Azkals Manager Mr. Alvin Carranza and with the visionary effort of PFF President Mr. Mariano (Nonong) V. Araneta, surely, the game of football in the Philippines will continue to rise and soar to heights of greatness.

THE TRANSIT OF VENUS

Among the rarest astronomical phenomena that happens every 243 years in the universe is the Transit of Venus…this is when the planet Venus passes through between the Sun and the Earth. And when this happens, the planet Venus looks like a small black rounded marble nibbling around  the big yellow ball shape, which is the sun. Seeing this phenomenon by my own eyes is something I must say is a privilege because not all people around the world has the opportunity to witness this event. And I’m just one of those I say blessed to witness this phenomenon……and witnessing this great astronomical event using a humongous telescope provided by the staff of the Nido Fortified Science Center.
