On its 23rd year, Fukuoka Asian Cultural Award has
searched extensively for a number of nominees for its upcoming 2012 laureates… and one of those
laureates is our very own Mr. Kidlat Tahimik who was chosen by Fukuoka
Organizing Committee under the Arts and Culture category. Mr. Kidlat Tahimik is
a Filipino independent film maker who made a great contribution to global film
culture as one of the pioneering independent filmmakers in Asia. Aside from
being a filmmaker, Mr. Kidlat Tahimik is into script-writing, shooting,
editing, acting and directing. His works have won several international awards like
Jeonju International Film Festival, Taiwan International Documentary Festival
and a lot more. He has also been acclaimed for his unique sense of humour in presenting the Filipino culture.
